According to Sayed Murtaza Jamaleddin, the deputy head of the center, opening the branch is in line with the attempts to promote the Quranic culture all over the Arab country.
He said a number of Quran experts, memorizers, seminary students and heads of Quranic institutes attended the opening ceremony, held at Al-Radhi Mosque.
It included recitation of verses from the Quran by prominent qari Abdullah Zuhair al-Husseini and speeches delivered by head of the center Sheikh Kharuddin al-Hadi and head of the branch Sheikh Mustafa al-Ameri.
A number of teachers and students as well as staff working at the branches of the center were also honored at the ceremony.
Quranic activities have significantly developed in Iraq since the 2003 overthrow of former dictator Saddam Hussein.
There has been a growing trend of Quranic programs such as competitions, recitation sessions and educational programs held in the country in recent years.
